About Brokeback Mountain

Mike Faist and Lucas Hedges lead the world premiere as cowboys Jack Twist and Ennis del Mar in Brokeback Mountain. Prepare yourself for an emotionally charged theatre experience that explores the struggle to live authentically. Get Brokeback Mountain tickets on Box Office.

Wyoming 1963. In a wild landscape, communities stay close to each other. But in the Wyoming mountains, two cowboys, Ennis and Jack, grapple with their feelings for each other in a society that’s hostile to their love. Their 20-year affair is one of raw emotion and passion, with tragic consequences.

Annie Proulx’s heartfelt country tale comes alive with Dan Gillespie-Sells’s sweeping Western score. Fairground Attraction singer Eddi Reader leads the musical interludes, accompanying Emmy-winner Mike Faist as Jack, and Golden Globe-nominee Lucas Hedges as Ennis. It’s also a landmark production for @sohoplace too: Brokeback Mountain in London marks the theatre’s first world premiere.

The play speaks to the struggles and triumphs of the human experience. It's a poignant reminder of the power of love to transcend boundaries, as well as the importance of breaking down barriers in society. This will be an unforgettable theatre experience that will leave you moved and inspired.

See it if You're a fan of the movie or Mike Faist

Don’t see it if You prefer dramatic theatre... A small cast and a set which mostly remains the same throughout; a very stripped back performance

See it if you want to see and excellent adaptation of the original short story.

Don’t see it if you're expecting it to be based on the film.

See it if Unexpectedly moving, absorbing, with music finely matching plot. Great performances from stars to a great script. In-the-round worked well.

Don’t see it if Having band visible was a direction choice that didn’t add a massive amount, though nevertheless didn’t detract for me.
