Over the years we have seen many purpose-built venues emerge in the theatre district, with the most famous perhaps being the King’s Cross Theatre, designed the house the hit production of The Railway Children. For the latest venue to emerge in the capital, however, we head to the western part of Central London as the Marble Arch Theatre arrives on the scene.
The venue will house the new production of Five Guys Named Moe, which returns to London after wowing audiences up in Edinburgh at last year’s fringe festival, with Clarke Peters taking on directing duties. As the writer of the musical’s book audiences will know they the show is in safe hands.
After all, the musical has its fair share of fans, having emerged back in 1990 in London before winning a Laurence Olivier Award. So its revival cannot come soon enough as theatregoers gear up to witness this celebration of the work of Louis Jordan and others whilst taking a trip back in time.
The story centres on Nomax, a character at his lowest ebb, and a group of people called Moe that emerge from the old-timey radio to prop him back up. They are Big Moe, Little Moe, Eat Moe, No Moe and Four-Eyed Moe and together they will help him get over the loss of his girlfriend and take his mind off of his financial woes.
So it’s an inspiring story full of hope, which has resonated with audiences for almost three decades and now it comes to a specially-designed venue to provide this hopeful time to London theatregoers. It should not be missed!
Five Guys Named Moe makes its new appearance at the Marble Arch Theatre from Thursday 14th September 2017 (with previews from Tuesday 29th August 2017).
